No, not at all.

Personally I think they are great friends, they kind of grow up together in Supernatural. Well, Jensen did learn to become an adult and got bigger and bulkier till The Boys. The Jarod just grow up taller and went deep in to the forever manchlid persona.

Anyways, J2 it's not my ship. From whatever angle I look at it, I can't see it. Not only because of their characters being brothers and all. It's just not there for me.

From that mentioned link. I can explain that I do believe everyone has the right to ship whomever, and in the spirit of being cool and make peace and love (like Misha and Jackles when in Rome 😉) between the SPN factions. I mentioned that what I thought Jackles was implying, was him giving his blessing to all the ships.

When I started to watch Supernatural from the beginning back in 2005, I wasn't aware about the concept of Shiping.

I was undoubtedly attracted to Dean nearly at the middle of the first season. Jackles made Dean so real and important for me on that show, that from then I was kind of sad Supernatural wasn't about just him, later on, about him and Castiel.

From there, since season 2 to middle 3 it was me just tuning in to watch Dean killing everything with his tall brother dude. Like I said, I wasn't aware of Shiping, and because of my cultural upbringing I thought gay was wrong and a problem. (Aka living in a South American country where machismo is law, and being homofobic is instructed to children).

I got then a brief understanding and crash course about ships because of Sherlock, and here in tumblr. Yes, I'm a Johnlock refugge, but even then I wasn't THAT convinced about those two. Albeit the fan art, and of course Fanfiction get my attention and further understanding and acceptance about my bad education. I started mending fences about my previous misunderstanding of queerness.

While I was on a mental journey about life and everything, hiding in the now questionable Sherlock y stopped watching Supernatural till it was on season 7.

And then one day... 🎶 One magic day they crossed my screen.... 🎶 😂

I kinda stumbled upon Supernatural again and saw new characters and plot. I get on track again watching the thing from the beginning till season 4. My life changed forever 📺😑.

Not only I discovered my new religion and Overlord, I get to really really experience that Shiping thing. And it was beautiful.... 🥺😳

Dude! Seriously. I was an ignorant, indoctrinated to be just binary or die in shame person. But there was THEM on screen, making me question everything I learned about love ONLY by opposite genders. And discover my own identification, as Mishasexual of course.

At first I thought something was wrong with me and my perception since all the tumblr discovering and "influence". -The gays change me, I thought. I binged watched seasons from 4 to 9 to realize THIS IS REAL!

I then joined the circus and start to paint my face, wear a big red nose, use big shoes and ride a ridiculously small bicycle every Thursday at 8pm central.

It was shocking, how scene after scene, from already aired episodes to the new ones. Once Dean and Cas where together on my screen. I had a vivid experience about the concept of Shiping.

Then I went deep in this hell of a fandom =>affectionately<= 🙄. Watching every Con and panel of Misha.... aaaaand discovered Cockles.

I was doomed.

My life went wham! I questioned everything, from my initial attitude about RLS. That at one point considered as disrespectful and silly because the ones in vogue back then I couldn't understand or believe their very existence.

Once you watched 5 heavy Destiel episodes, and 3 Jibcon Cockles Panels, all the internal homophobia or general confusion about genders changes to rainbows and pink puppies that smell like candy and sound like Misha and Jackles laughing.

Well, I took a deep dive in to memory lane here. Just because a simple J2 Shiping ask. Sorry, but not sorry. I love to spread the Cockles gospel and give the good news about the magical duo that saved me from ignorance, propelled me into the land of trash and rainbows. That occupies 70% of my memory's phone between photos of Misha and them together. Usually of Jackles ogling Mish while having a secret boner.

Frat parties were always boring for Cas. Their friends were always messing around, meeting people or getting shitfaced. He couldn’t find the interest in the dark rooms filled with neon lights, the dancing/stumbling people, the puddles of puke on every corner and the loud music, but his old roommate insisted so much he ended up going. Of course the very tall dude with beautiful hair found a woman with whom to leave to the second floor while Cas was still there, looking at a little mold spot on the ceiling. If he didn’t like that dude so much and hadn’t become friends in such a short time, he definitely would’ve told him to fuck off.

He was so bored and about to go to get some sleep, but someone stopped him with a soft hand on his forearm.

“Hello angel” He heard a voice behind him “I bet it really hurt when you fell from heaven”

Cas turned his head and saw him. The dude was so attractive that he felt almost jealous, even in the almost nonexistent light he could notice the beautiful features in his face… He could also smell the tequila breath and his clear eyes were half-lidded for the alcohol influence.

“Sorry, not interested… I don’t like men” Cas lied, fully aware that his curiosity never crossed that thin line.

“Have you ever tried?” the drunk dude asked, amused.

“No… never” Cas replied turning his whole body to him.

“Then… how do you know?” He inquired, a little crooked smile danced on his lips.

Cas gulped and looked otherside.

Idk what’s possessing me to post all of my questions about the supernatural fandom here, but I’m starting to think “cockles” and “J2” are ships of the actors. But, why? They’re real people. Who are married. They’re all married!! To women!

I’m okay with fictional ships. I think twist and shout is a work of art, and that’s Destiel fanfiction. But how can you ship two real straight men as a gay couple? That makes no sense. Is it just all for fun? Or is it like the one direction fandom in 2012 and people really think it’s real?

Well, this is my contribution for @cocklesdestielfiction! :D

This was so much fun to write! :D Of course a little strange to write about “real” persons, but hey - the last season is comming up, we can mess around a bit, don’t we? ;)

I chose the Cockles Canonverse prompt: Rick called Jensen and Misha, “Guys… you need to practice that Destiel kiss, we need to film that in a week.” He ordered them, and disappeared behind the trailers. Jensen and Misha looked at each other and blushed. That was a thing they were avoiding, but now… they had to be professionals and just do it.

Their gazes were still locked, as Jared rushed around the corner. “Ah, Jensen here you are! Have you seen Rick? We’ve got to talk with him about this fight-scene, remember?”

Jared stared at them and put his hands on his hips. “Guys…?”

Finally, Jensen seemed to hear what his co-worker and friend just asked. “Yah, Rick was just here a minute ago, can’t be far. You mean the fight scene with you, me and Lisa?”

Jared nodded. “Come on, let’s find him.” And so the two men disappeared as well, leaving behind a frowning Misha.

Mish still couldn’t understand why the topic “Destiel-kiss” was still like a red rag to a bull for Jensen. They knew since season four that this ship would eventually go canon. On screen. Officially. The fans really waited long enough for this. Of course, it still was all top secret.

When Misha thought about it, he had to admit that it was becoming increasingly difficult for both of them to play that brotherly relationship between Dean and Cas. The writers, the producers, even themselves as actors were running out of excuses, as to why the damn ship still wasn’t canon yet. So there was a lot of anger, betrayal and fight-scenes between their characters in the latest seasons. But now, the final season of the show was about to go live, and finally the producers wanted to give the fans what they longed for so long: A real Destiel kiss.

He sighed and stepped into his air-conditioned trailer. They wouldn’t need him to talk about the specific fight scene with Lisa Berry, because he wouldn’t be in this scene. His figure, Castiel, would appear, when Dean would lie like dead on the floor. And then, well, he kinda would go all Sleeping Beauty. It was a stupid scene, but Misha wasn’t in the position to complain. But one thing was clear: There was no way Jensen would ever practice this scene with him, not until the said day has come.

misha is a tesure, what I love most a bout him and all this shipping topic is that he as never been defensive about his character,and how people see his character sexuality,he as respected destiel shippers and have also seen him acknowledge those who see cas as a sexual ,he understand that this his fiction and other people interpretation and what they do with the art he produce is all goodi don't ship destiel anymore but I respect the hell out of actors who respect shipping ,unless its incest

I agree with almost everything. Misha IS a treasure. And I like that he accepts interpretations and it’s not afraid to talk about ships and that people feel that they are not crazy for shipping destiel. 

Now, if we, destiel shippers KNOW about the tricks and crumbs and baiting, why do some feel the need to ask the same thing over and over and over again? It’s not going to make destiel canon. Not matter what Misha says, because as well as it didn’t matter what Jensen said (it doesn’t exist), both answers are their personal interpretations. I have never denied that destiel existed at some point, later seasons it’s more bait that anything, but yeah the writers/producers/directors/editors play with the ship. Nobody can be that obtuse to deny the tons of romantic tropes the relationship between Dean and Cas has. Not even bronlies, and that’s why they hate the ship so much, because destiel, unlike wincest, does have a chance to become canon. 

But do this questions add anything new to the discussions about destiel? For me the answer is NO. Misha has been supportive of destiel shippers since the beginning. He tweeted “you’re not crazy” years ago, he has made serious comments on it, has made videos “shipping” it, has signed tons of fanart and destiel graphics, take photo ops that he knows are about destiel or cockles… It’s not new that he respects the shippers and supports the different readings. 

Now what bums me out is that, everytime he answers one of these questions, shippers feel that destiel is going canon, and that transpires into the show and into Castiel and they see him only as a part of a ship, and if you’ve been following me anon, you know that is a BIG NO for me. Cas is so much more.

And also this Q&A, only brings more baiting from the show imo, and this is where I get really, lets say annoyed, because it’s an infinite loop of the same bs. We are in season 14, it’s been 10 fucking years of the same old same old. Spn is not a new show, destiel is not a new ship… I think at this point we must have an archive online bigger than wikipedia with destiel meta, destiel interpretation, destiel subtext reading, fanfiction codas and etc… And yet, nothing is going to change.

The ship is totally valid at this point, don’t get me wrong, and that’s why I said that I don’t need validation, because I KNOW. We all know. And I also know that is not going to go full canon. Oh, they are going to keep playing with it for sure, some crumbs here, some crumbs there. I expect tons of bs with au!Michael and new metas saying how canon destiel is because Cas is going to do anything to rescue Dean. But haven’t we been here before? On season 8? On season 10? On season 11? 

Lbh, do people really think destiel is going to go canon under Singer? With Jensen NOT seeing his character as bi (sorry not sorry but it is what it is), with Pedowitz saying that the only thing that matters in spn are the jayjays? Really? I don’t see them wanting anything to take the attention away from the bros and this IS the bros show for them. The two mains and tptb. They have said it, that is not interpretation or subtext at all. 

So again, why the insistence? why the same questions? the need of validation over and over again? It’s a dead end instead of an endgame. And Misha, being Misha, plays with it and goes and goes and goes, because it is who he is, he just has no filter sometimes, he said it himself at the same panel: “this is going to get me into trouble”, and is that all really necessary? Now if he knows that is going to get him some shit (he talked about rpf too) and he is fine with it, fine by me too. I see SO MUCH HATE towards him all the fucking time, some really serious shit too, and it’s not funny at all let me tell you. But I get totally that is his choice to play with certain things sometimes, and like I said, if the other 2 pander to their fans trashing Misha all the time, I don’t see anything wrong with Misha answering ship questions. But does he have a choice to NOT answer them? Lbh, he gets shit from the shippers too: “oh Misha don’t say perverts” “Misha you need to educate yourself on destiel” “Misha I’m going to send you some ff links” and I have screenshots of shippers tweeting him that mind you. He can’t win, because like I said: dead end. 

That’s why I don’t agree with the shippers that need validation 24/7. Because like I said 1000 times before, Misha for me is more than a ship, Cas for me, is more than a ship. And really? All the amazing things Misha does, and how an awesome layered character Cas is, all of that, gets swiped under a rug, every time a fan asks a ship question. Every fucking time. It’s a shame really, in my opinion, that people have that amazing man in front of them and can only think: I have to ask about my ship, because I need my dose of validation right now! Excuse me if I don’t get it. 

I’m all for actors answering about ships, interpretations, readings, joking a little with their co-stars about pairs, I’m all for that. But when it’s the same question over and over, when it doesn’t bring anything new to the table, when I know it’s only to shout endgame! through some meta bs, and it’s only going to create wank for my fave actor and character, I’m not. Again season 14, 10 years, hundreds of tropes, millions of crumbs, and we are in the same place, or maybe worse, than we were at the beginning.

Question: What do you think about the moment in 10x05 where Dean is told that the females portraying him and Cas in the play are a real life couple (Is that the writers way of playing with our Cockles shipper hearts or implying that Destiel is real and not just "Fanfiction" or maybe both?)? Hey, there! Ohhhh the 200th episode!! One of the many works of art penned by Robbie Thompson. That was his love letter to the fandom, and he really knew how to feed us well lol.

I’m gonna quote myself from another post I wrote around that time: 

In the SPN200 Fan Party Jensen himself said that he didn’t have a positive reaction toward the episode when he read the script. He even said that he talked to Jeremy Carver, and Jeremy had to explain to him why they were doing what they were doing. Jensen said that he was aware of fanfiction (I believe he was thinking mostly about Destiel) and that he thought if he ignored it, it would eventualy go away. He wanted to know what was the message that they wanted to send with that script. He was given the information he needed, and he even apologized to Jeremy and said that he should have never even sat down in that office (Jeremy’s).

Sometimes context is important. Jensen kind of freaked out about the script, but whatever Jeremy told him was enough for him to calm down. Whether his worry was because of Destiel or Cockles, we just don’t know. 

Robbie knew the fandom better than anyone in the writer’s room. His shout out to Destiel was textual, but I wouldn’t put it past him to have fun with a little nod to Cockles, too. 

I don’t think the line was for us to believe that either Destiel or Cockles is real. The narrative itself of the show in the 3 seasons that have gone by is taking Destiel to the verge of canon text with or without that line. 

Regarding Cockles, they’re real people and, though the ship is the happy place for many of us, we can’t really think that someone as thoughtful as Robbie would actually wanna try to suggest anything by that line. 

I’m sure it was just a wink wink nudge nudge for us. That ep was for the fans, and Cockles is part of how many of those fans experience the fandom. I think the nod was highly appreciated. :)
